information for AMES ESTATE volunteers

Thank you for volunteering for MAA’s Arbor Day of Service. We’re excited to get together and help care for the mature trees on this historic property.  There are a few items we want to make you aware of before you arrive – some of which are mandated by current Covid-restrictions.

Prior to the event, we need the following items:

- Click button above to be brought to the waiver form.
- We must have a waiver for all companies volunteering on the property that day.
- Please have your company owner complete a waiver or bring a signed waiver to the job site.

We would appreciate receiving the names of who you’ll have with you at Arbor Day to ensure we have an accounting of everyone who is onsite.  This will also help with our lunch order and allow us to accurately grant MCA credit.  At your earliest convenience, please complete the roster here.

Pre-Event Q&A Session: Thursday, April 29 @ NOON
We’ll be on Zoom the day before Arbor Day of Service to answer any questions you may have about our work at the Ames Estate.
Here’s the link and passcode:
Meeting ID: 894 8992 9791
Passcode: 545783

Please plan to arrive around 7:00 a.m.  Parking is limited so please follow guidelines below:

Work vehicles: we will be staging vehicles next to the park on Mechanic Street and accessing the property through the Oliver Street entrance.  When you enter the park, your crew will be greeted by an MAA volunteer and directed to your work zone.

Passenger vehicles:  Please use the parking lot at the Easton Historical Society, 80 Mechanic Street, North Easton.

Safety/CDC Guidelines
Be sure you crew is equipped with all necessary PPE and are following ANSI and TCIA Standards.  Due to Covid, CDC protocols will be in force.  We remind everyone to be safe, sensible and adhere to safe distancing guidelines. Please wear a face covering for the duration of the event.

Scope of Work
The Ames Estate has many, mature specimen trees. Our committee has planned work zones with an emphasis on preservation and plant health care. Hazard tree removal will also take place where necessary.  The Trustees will have team members stationed at the work zones. Feel free to ask them questions about scope of work for your zone.

Food & Beverage
Many thanks to our friends at C&S Insurance who are providing lunch for all of our volunteers! Sandwiches and bottled water will be boxed and brought directly to your work zone beginning at 12:00 noon.  There is no potable water onsite, so plan to bring your own water or beverages.

Unfortunately, we cannot get together for a group photo this year. We will have several photographers who will capture the day. We’ll be sure to share them all with you after the event.

Thanks, again, for volunteering to help out at our Group Celebration on April 30.  We look forward to seeing you there!

IMPORTANT: The MAA’s Arbor Day Celebration at the Ames Estate will be held rain or shine (although we’re hoping for a lot of shine). In the case of severe weather, the event will be postponed until the following day, Saturday May 1.
