"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." – Margaret Mead
Each April, MAA celebrates a state-wide volunteer day. MAA's Arbor Day of Service gives tree care professionals a chance to make a direct impact in their local communities, drawing attention to the importance of proper tree care and tree planting. Hundreds of arborists volunteer annually, working collaboratively or on independent projects at sites such as community parks, schools, town commons or conservation lands. Each year, MAA donates more than $200,000 worth of volunteer services to sites in need.
Over the past 30 years, many historically significant sites have benefited from MAA volunteerism including Pilgrim Memorial Park in Plymouth, MA, Castle Hill in Essex, MA, Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA, Appleton Farms in Ipswich and the Boston Common.
