Massachusetts
Arborists Association
Keeping You and Your Company Informed and Competitive
Webster
defines Association as "an organization of people for the common cause."
The MAA is just that, and organization of concerned professionals whose
goal is furthering the ability and prosperity of its members. The primary
thrust of the MAA is the education of its members, the consumer and allied
industries.
Since the
early 1930s, the MAA has supported the business growth of tree care professionals
throughout the state with its comprehensive certification program, educational
training, and industry support. The leadership of the MAA believes that
the purpose of the MAA is to accomplish together that which would be impossible
individually.
Take a look
at what the members of the MAA accomplish together:
- Massachusetts
Certified Arborists program - with over 800 certified arborists in the
state, the MCA program has elevated the level of professionalism of
arborists and increased consumer awareness as to the importance of working
with qualified professionals.
- New
England Grows - sponsored by the MAA, this annual trade show
and conference is one of the largest green industry events in the nation.
- Legislative
Efforts - as a founding member of the Green Industry Alliance, members
of the MAA have an effective voice on Beacon Hill and state regulatory
arenas.
- Special
Seminars - the MAA offers a variety of special seminars and dinner meetings
designed to equip tree care professionals with cutting edge arboriculture
information.
- Training
Programs - more and more regulations make it imperative that employers
in the tree care industry train their employees in areas such as Electrical
Hazard Awareness, Equipment Operation and Safe Pesticide Handling. The
MAA offers cost effective programs to help employers with safety training.
- Public
Awareness - the MAA supports its members and the arboriculture community
through innovative public awareness projects including marketing support
for members, consumer advertising campaigns, annual Arbor Day celebrations,
and outreach programs.
- Industry
Information - through its quarterly newsletter the MAA keeps its members
informed and competitive with the latest in arboriculture research,
regulatory issues and business practices. Our close alliance with the
University of Massachusetts affords our members state of the art diagnostic
capabilities and resources. A MAA grant to UMass will provide members
with a CD/ROM featuring up-to-the-minute information on pests and diseases
in the Northeast.
- Industry
Awareness - the MAA has initiated a number of effective programs designed
to create interest in and attract qualified labor to the tree care industry.
Our scholarship programs, support of vocational schools, and participation
in the School to Career program for agriculture all combine to make
MAA a leading proponent of the arboriculture industry.
- Endowment
- the MAA recently spearheaded an historic fund raising effort that
will ensure the continuation of the Commercial Arboriculture program
at the University of Massachusetts. This unprecedented move will provide
for the education of future industry members and the prosperity of commercial
arboriculture for years to come.
You can
